But something changed during the pandemic and I turned much more inward — INFJ. Perhaps the more accurate label would be Ambivert, sitting on the fence — depending on the social situation. I absolutely get recharged and inspiration not by being around people, but rather being on my own and figuring things out in a little cocoon of time and space. It’s where I find my calm and centre. My cocoon is certainly my new home of four months, but also here at Jaybird, where in the heat and darkness and deep atmospheric music I can let my mind and body go. It’s been an incredible few months of being completely present in the moment while on the mat — and more than a few tears are shed on tougher emo days — but a much needed release each time. Each dinner seats only 40 guests and on March 30th I had the pleasure of experiencing the inaugural dinner. What better way to kick things off than with Chef Masayoshi, returning full circle to the Lobby Lounge, his former culinary residency. He joined Pac Rim’s Chef de Asian Cuisine Youssef Jbari to create a stellar six-course omakase experience with beverage pairing that really delivered. When your heart feels so heavy and you pray that one day things will change. Now is the time. Change has to start from within, your family, circle and community.
