Itโ€™s a creamy, lathering, rich cleanser that doesnโ€™t strip my skin of hydration. Toner / Essence: @drceuracle_global Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence (available via @pureseouluk) - this is my second bottle of this dual phase milky toner and I love it. Itโ€™s hydrating, skin-softening and leaves my skin glowing. Plus itโ€™s packed full of antioxidant power. Eye Treatment: @skinrocks the Eye Cream - this is a lightweight lotion eye treatment that contains the hydration, moisture and antioxidant goodness you need from this sort of product. Plus caffeine and peptides to help make the eye area look smoother and more awake. Itโ€™s pricey and not an essential for me, but I will enjoy it whilst I have it. Treatment / Moisturiser: @trinnylondon Energise Me Niacinamide Moisturiser - this is the perfect textural balance for my skin; lotion-like but still nourishing and it always leaves my skin feeling soft and plump. The niacinamide in here also helps to prevent discolouration, boost ceramide production for a healthy skin barrier and regulate oil production in the skin. An all-rounder ingredient and al all-rounder product! Sunscreen: @haruharuwonder_official Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++ - this is one of those sunscreens that doesnโ€™t even feel like a sunscreen! Itโ€™s a light lotion that melts right in without leaving any sort of cast, excess or shine. It also sits perfectly under my makeup and doesnโ€™t irritate my sensitive eyes. Plus itโ€™s only ยฃ15 from @superdrug! Iโ€™ve got an in-depth review up on the blog but also wanted to show you what it looks like on my skin. Honestly, whilst the cast settled a little after I left this for 10 minutes; I just donโ€™t think this looks good enough for me to replace this when itโ€™s finished. I like the hydrating texture and - if you have a lighter skin tone than myself - it might work better for you in terms of appearance. Iโ€™m going to stick to using this under makeup, though, and I canโ€™t personally recommend it! Itโ€™s simple, functional and effective and doesnโ€™t leave any residue on my skin. Second Cleanse: @muradskincareuk Heartleaf Soothing Cleanser - this is a light, non-foaming emulsion-gel formulated without fragrance and with soothing, hydrating ingredients. Itโ€™s perfect as a gentle morning or second cleanse for dry and / or sensitive skin types. Toner / Serum: @drjart_uk Ceramidin Skin Barrier Serum Toner - this is a lovely emulsion that falls between the texture of a weighty essence and a fluid serum. It tops up the skinโ€™s natural ceramide stores for a strong, healthy skin barrier and also leaves mine feeling soft, plump and hydrated. Treatment / Moisturiser: @dermalogicauk Multivitamin Power Recovery Cream - this is a gentle but effective multi-active moisturiser that provides lightweight nourishment alongside ingredients like retinol, peptides and niacinamide. It doesnโ€™t irritate my skin but Iโ€™m loving how radiant and plump my skin has been looking lately! Oil: Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil - this is a revisit of a product I used to love. Whilst you donโ€™t need to spend this much on Marula oil, I do enjoy how light and cosmetically-elegant this formula is, and marula oil is a lovely, non-greasy option for softer, smoother, plumper and more nourished skin. Retinoid: @naturiumskin Retinal 0.1% Cream Serum* - honestly, this is one of my favourite retinoids ever, and it comes in at such a fair price for whatโ€™s still a cosmetically-elegant formula (so itโ€™s what Iโ€™d buy if I wasnโ€™t trying new products to review and just wanted a good retinoid at a good price). Retinoids can be drying and irritating but are our most proven well-ageing active for boosting collagen production, improving signs of photoageing and increasing skin cell turnover. This serum doesnโ€™t cause my skin any irritation but leaves it looking smooth, even and itโ€™s absolute best! I pair it with a basic ceramide-rich cream. Eye Treatment: @skinrocks the Eye Cream* - this is pricey but it is moisturising, hydrating and I enjoy the texture. Hopefully itโ€™s also doing something to help my underlying eye issues insofar as a topical can! Itโ€™s formulated with peptides, humectants, antioxidants, caffeine and plenty of lightweight moisturisers. Moisturiser: @dermalogicauk Multivitamin Power Recovery Cream* - I have been a big fan of the face mask from this range for years, so itโ€™s probably not surprising that I really enjoy the moisturiser tooโ€ฆ itโ€™s formulated with peptides, lactic acid, antioxidants, niacinamide, panthenol, Vitamin E, retinol, squalane, Vitamin Eโ€ฆ basically everything you could possibly need! Itโ€™s expensive but it is a great one-step option for people who are busy and canโ€™t commit to multiple steps every single night. It also doesnโ€™t feel like too much all at once since the ingredients are formulated to work together. Full review to followโ€ฆ Lip Balm: @theordinary Squalane + Amino Acid Lip Balm* - this is my go-to travel lip balm because itโ€™s lightweight, transparent hydrating and can be used day or night for softer lips. After cancelling our annual mountain getaway, I'm feeling very grateful to be cozied up at home tonight as we bid adieu to 2021! โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € This past year was the most transformative of my life as I focused on living in alignment and truly honouring what that meant for me. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € I prioritized my (mental and physical) health, wellness and peace unapologetically. I continued to explore personal development, did a lot of inner work, learned, grew and created authentically while inviting in ease and rest without guilt. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € A return to simplicity was what my heart called for โ€” and it was incredibly cathartic. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € 2021's lessons afforded me perspective to focus on what's truly important. I firmly believe decorating your home for the holidays should be accessible, stress-free and fun! โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € Last year, we spent more time unwinding from the stress of the world in front the fire than ever before. But the truth is, Iโ€™ve been in the social media space since 2010, and I doubt anyone who follows me now was around then. At this point, Iโ€™m basically a social media dinosaur. I started running in 2010 for the promise of a free long sleeve shirt after finishing my collegeโ€™s 5K. I didnโ€™t train, didnโ€™t even like running, but I wanted that shirt. I surprised myself by finishing in about 23 minutes, which felt wild considering I had zero running background other then avoiding it. From there, I walked on to my college cross country team but I was injured often because my body was not built for the mileage. Swimming mileage? Fine. Running mileage? A disaster. I grew up in the pool and swam through college, so I thought I could just transfer that fitness over. Spoiler: I couldnโ€™t. My twenties was a roller coaster of PRs and injuries. If you name a bone in the lower half of my body, thereโ€™s a good chance I cracked it. Tibia stress fracture on my 21st birthday. Second and fifth metatarsals. Something in my ankle. Then the finale: a calcaneus fracture in March 2020. I was constantly chasing times my body wasnโ€™t ready to run, and while it got me some PRs, it also got me a VIP punch card at sports med offices. Older now (and maybe wiser), Iโ€™ve learned the lesson: I donโ€™t run through injuries anymore, and I fuel better. I worked in a running store a good portion of my twenties (shoutout RunningCo in Haddonfield) and that taught me a lot about running shoes, gear, and product. Iโ€™m a lot of peoples โ€œshoe girlโ€. Am I as fast as I once was? No. Do I care as much as I used to? Also no. Running is important, but itโ€™s not everything. On the non-running side: I met my husband second semester of senior year. He commissioned into the Air Force in 2012, and we did the long-distance thing for a year and a half. Iโ€™ve lived in Virginia, upstate New York, Texas, Alabama, New Jersey, Northern California, and now the Mojave Desert. Right now, Iโ€™m about 90 minutes north of LA, which means I spend at least 45 weekends a year down there pretending like I still live in a city. Then I went on to run a 3:07 marathon which is a 7+ minute PR for me. I smiled, laughed, and side fived friends the entire time. . My goal was to start and finish healthy and I did that. . You know the weird parts of it, the uneven sidewalk, the multiple stop lights, loose dogs, nonscenic views...it's just...a mediocre loop that gets the job done. None of it is new information. You still go and it's still a loop you run multiple times a month. Part of running is that familiar and easy can win over better. When getting out the door already feels like work, the route that is already mapped out in your head takes less energy than trying to come up with something different.
