I graduated with honors from U of H in Journalism. A film student asked me to be in her short. I had zero professional experience and then I acted opposite an incredible theatre major and we played and had the grandest of times. He taught me you could tell a story differently every time by being present and reacting off of what a person is giving you. I loved it. This was my calling. A Scout from NPT in College Station found me and supported my dream. She was instrumental in helping me. I moved a few years later to L.A. without knowing a soul and the rest is history. I made incredible friends, colleagues and connections and am so proud of how far so many of my friends and colleagues have come to today. Iām proud of my body of work in tv, in the stage, behind the mic and behind the lens as a makeup artist. Iāve learned from and collaborated and worked with the most amazing artists and professionals. This is just what you can see, not the thousands of hours studying, the ups, the downs, the relationships built, hours in traffic, walking across the lot in flats and change shoes, the hope, joy, dream, anxiety, phone calls that feel life changing, the friendships, the squeals, the tears, the hundreds of unanswered questions, the auditions, the callbacks, the pins, the agents, the managers, the casting directors who are your biggest cheerleaders, the you got itās, the they went with a name, the youāre so close! I have so much respect for artists, they are some of the most beautiful, gentle, fierce and resilient people I know who give everything to their art. So next time you meet an artist, put yourself in their shoes. I think you might find more admiration for how courageous they are. So grateful to see the world and make memories together. Reims is one of the most incredible places. The cathedral is from the 13th century if I am not mistaken and 32 royals have been crowned here. To be in this space is truly magical. Itās in the Champange region, which is a world of its own. Also pictured is Notre Dame. The thing that struck me was the stained glass on the pillars and floors. Beautiful and incredible to visit after the restoration. On Ash Wednesday, the priest said Lent isnāt about giving up something, itās more important what you do to replace it. I chose to be intentional and be of service. I was so busy in moving forward in so many new ways in work, in art, in family and in giving back. Love my my new job with great people, glammed some amazing new clients, grateful for really beautiful auditions and new opportunities, AND helped mentor at SXSW, earned the privilege to be scholarship chair for Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals to reward students pursuing communications AND was a part of a group of men and women who together doubled our goal and raised $3 million at our gala for children suffering with cancer to Sky High for Kids. It was a lot of showing up in new ways and a gentle reminder that community and generosity are the best rewards. Love volunteering because itās showing me whatās possible and whatās most important. For years, I suffered with incredibly painful and heavy cycles, cramps, sciatica, bloating to the point of appearing 6 months pregnant āendo bellyā, fatigue, exuastion, depression, hormone fluctuations, weight gain, hair loss. I would call out of work, be sent home from work, skip parties, events. So many embarrassing accidents. I once was on set and couldnāt fit into my wardrobe my stomach was so bloated. No number of pain meds, heating pads, diet changes would help. My body was inflamed and filled with this disease. With endo, the whole body lights up with other endometrial-like cells that attack your other organs. Itās basically internal bleeding everywhere the endo tissue touches. It is also a silent fertility issue. It affects your egg quality, follicles and many women suffering with endometriosis suffer with fertility. 1 in 10 women are suspected to have it, however, I was at a table of 6 women this weekend, and 4 women had it. FOUR. It typically takes ten years to get a diagnosis. Tell your doctor about your symptoms and donāt being quiet about it. I finally found a doctor who listened and she suggested I had it, I said āI know I do, cut me open.ā At that time there were no tests, just suspicion and surgery. I share this so that you know you are not alone. In 2023, I flew to San JoseI had endo excision surgery with fibroid removal and it changed my life. I had Stage 4 Endo and 10 fibroids removed. He gave me back quality of life. I no longer had to call out of work, I didnāt have to lay down, I didnāt feel like fainting, I have little pain now and a pain medication can help me manage. I learned how to eat around my cycle to help soothe symptoms, supplemented with different vitamins and minerals instead of taking bc. Once I started sharing my story, I had a number of women reach out and theyāve since had the surgery that has helped them live their lives. No body should suffer with this horrible disease. I met so many incredible people with such similar stories and was grateful to have been a mentor this year. I was amazed that there werenāt just actors, but directors and producers who came to our round table. The amount of interest, connection and freedom to talk to one another is beautiful. Thereās no pretentiousness and everyone is there to make something great. I particularly loved the SAG and CSA presence to encourage this generation of actors though an unprecedented time, that while things are different, itās still about the process. I even ran into a makeup client of mine from L.A. within my first two minutes on the street. Was she acting? No, executive producing one of the biggest films at SXSW and I donāt think she even 30. Thereās no telling what you can accomplish when you say enough is enough and stop waiting for things to happen you go and do it. Seeing is believing. AND the amount of Latino filmmakers I met was astounding, we are here. I wish him had more photos but was so present in taking everything in. Voice acting, especially dubbing, is a challenging and so much fun. Thereās so much acting on the spot and so much technique thatās required. I had a beautiful group of friends who I still talk to today. I was booked again for a new season which was my second recurring on a little show called Silicon Valley on HBO. I booked my first pilot for ABC from Meghan Oppenheimer with legendary producer Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea, and it was my first time flying first class. The story was phenomenal and still pinch myself I had this opportunity. I had a number of friends get married and was grateful to be included in all of them and got to celebrate my best friends. Grateful to audition for the ABC Diversity showcase. I booked my first voiceover for a Spanish language commercial. Had a number of trips and went to Vegas with my sisters. And booked my first major recurring guest star that was originally a co-star on a little show called Famous in Love on FreeForm. It was one of my favorite roles Iāve played, thy trusted me and got to have so much fun. I made beautiful friends on-set that I still talk with today and am forever grateful for that opportunity. One of the writers came up to me and said āyouāre giving us so much to work with, itās so easy to write for you.ā It was so surreal. And the makeup. Was. A.
