It feels like you’re in a hidden European courtyard, with stone pathways, gothic archways, fountains and the grand cathedral rising behind it. This garden was designed in the 1920s and inspired by medieval monastery gardens, which is why it feels so different from anywhere else in the city. The entrance is small and easy to miss, located to the right of the cathedral entrance beside the parking area. It’s open from sunrise to sunset, and golden hour is a gorgeous time to visit. It also has several benches and a large grass area perfect for picnics, a reading spot, or just a quiet space to relax. This is definitely one of Washington DC’s most underrated gems. You’ll see fifty different species of thousands of butterflies flying around botanical gardens; you’ll wander through unique flowers and gorgeous fountains; you’ll get to see the most colorful birds and even participate in a feeding if you like, and there is a fabulous gift shop to top off your visit. Things to know for your visit: Tickets are $32.50/adults; $22.50/children. Sunny days are when the butterflies are most active. But don’t let cooler or drizzly days discourage a visit - the butterflies will be perching with wings spread, a great opportunity for photos! Heavy rain or lighting storms, however, may affect hours so check website before visiting. Supposedly wearing white is the best color if you want the butterflies to land on you (but I’ve personally had better luck in red!). Give yourself at least two hours here to explore, but it’s entirely possible you’ll get caught up in the beauty and end up staying even longer. We dated long distance for the first year, and then I decided to take a chance and move across the country to be with him. I’m not someone who embraces big changes, especially if it means leaving the security of my comfort zone. I’m not going to lie and say it was easy at first, but once I got settled into my new life, it ended up being the best decision I ever made. We have created an amazing life together loving where we live, that we can bring our fur baby along on our adventures and feel like we are on vacation every weekend! Dunedin is one of the most dog-friendly towns in Florida, and it also gives super cute Hallmark movie vibes— walkable streets lined with pastel storefronts, local boutiques that feel personal, mom-and-pop cafés, and a cozy small-town charm you don’t usually find in Florida beach towns. Your dogs are welcome in most of the breweries, restaurants, and shops, and there is also a dog beach just up the road. Some of my favorite things to do here: Wander Main Street and pop into the local shops — don’t miss The Celtic Shop of Dunedin and the adorable independent bookstores. Grab a latte from Sandpiper Coffee or visit Strachan’s for ice cream. Head to the marina for sunset. If you’re hungry, check out The Living Room or Hog Island Fish Camp for delicious local bites. Check out all the local breweries. Our favorite is Cueni Brewing, known for their pickle beer! It sounds weird but is awesome, especially the spicy pickle! I’m so glad I didn’t listen to everyone when they said it’s not worth it to stay in Athens. My husband and I loved the city of Athens, and would go back and visit again. Here’s a few tips on how to spend 3 days in Athens, or you can reach out and I can plan it for you! 🇬🇷Day 1: Settle into the Plaka neighborhood What are the best things to do in Athens? Wander the Plaka and Psyri neighborhoods. The Plaka neighborhood is very picturesque, but also since it’s right next to the Acropolis it is very touristy. I would still recommend staying here, and there are lots of beautiful properties. If you wander off the beaten path you’ll find the most quaint streets. I would recommend if you’re searching for the best places to eat head to the Psyri neighborhood. Since we didn’t research too many restaurants in the area we went off Google recommendations. After dinner we walked around the side streets and found bars packed with people on high tops, quite enjoying themselves…it was such a lively atmosphere. 🇬🇷Day 2: Visit the museum before the Acropolis The first full day of your itinerary will include Filopappeau Hill to get a bird ‘s-eye view of the city and the Acropolis Museum. Since our hotel was located near the Acropolis and city center, it took us only around twenty minutes to walk from our hotel to the top of the hill. It was an easy hike, and then we headed to the Acropolis Museum after. My husband and I love doing this for each city we visit, getting a bird’s-eye view on the first day that we’re there to help us get a better sense of the city! Even though we’ve been back in London this week, packing another five suitcases to send back to Boston, spending a week in Croatia was a lovely last trip to end our European adventure! I can understand the hype of Dubrovnik. The Old Town is perfect for tourists, even seeming a bit too much so. It was completely perfect in every way, and truly feels like you’re on a real life movie set- hello Game of Thrones! Here are a few takeaways from our trip… 🇭🇷Don’t try and save money and stay outside the Old Town, it’s completely worth it to spend a few nights in this beautiful area. Some properties will make you climb more stairs than others, and I’m so glad I did the research and found the perfect spot! 🇭🇷It’s very baby friendly! Besides climbing quite a few steps, everyone is so lovely and accommodating of babies and children. It also helps that lots of restaurants are outdoors, and have lots of space for strollers! 🇭🇷There’s not much to do in the Old Town, but all the restaurants are fabulous and we never had a bad meal. 🇭🇷There are plenty of islands to explore in this area. I would also recommend staying along the coast for part of your trip. We found a beautiful luxury property- and I promise all the rooms have ocean views! 🇭🇷There’s a popular day trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina, but my husband did this without us and wasn’t impressed. It just goes to show that some things are definitely overrated. I’m so grateful for our time in London; it’s allowed us to visit 40+ countries now. Here are a few reasons we’ve made the incredibly tough decision: 1. We had a baby! And London has never felt like home, especially now with raising our little love without all the people we love the most around him- it’s REALLY hard. 2. Yes, America is expensive, but so is London. When we started comparing the price difference between our current 3 bed Boston condo to what we could get for a similar space in London, it just doesn’t even compare. 3. We just miss Boston, and New England in general. 3. Daycare is more expensive here!! 4. Both of our careers look quite different here than in Boston, and when your career is a huge part of your life, it’s tough. I would love to continue to grow my business, and that exists in the US. 5. Salaries here are much less, and we just aren’t able to save like we used to...sure we travel and spend a lot, but for us we were happy with how much we traveled living in New England, being able to travel around New England and DRIVE there, not having to fly. 6. | 2026-06-05 16:12 | Sidecar | 2026-04-30 18:24:39 | ‼️Here’s why you shouldn’t travel to Capri on a budget… ➡️Or book your next trip with me, a luxury travel advisor that made all these travel mistakes so you don’t have to! 🇮🇹Let’s start from the beginning, even though this island is fairly easy to ferry to, it’s not very easy to move around the island on your own or explore it once you’re there. We opted to stay in a little bed and breakfast at the end of September (honestly the best part of our trip) that was close to the ferry port, but far enough away so it was quiet. It was a little less than a mile uphill, but we managed fine because we only had carry on size luggage. Even though Capri is beautiful, it’s very hard to get around with public transport, if you’re not booking those private transfers. If you’re not driving, to get from the ferry port to Capri Town you need to take the funicular. This option is always busy, and you could be queueing a while. To transfer between Capri Town and Capri Beach you need to take a bus (good luck trying to get a taxi). Since the buses are small you’ll also be queueing for a while, because you have to wait for multiple buses. Because Capri Beach and Capri Town are not close to each other, you’re unable to walk between the two. The two beaches we tried to visit were very small and crowded, this is why I highly recommend a beach club instead! If you’re booking a beach club on your own, you need to book reservations in advance. 🏝️Have you been to Capri? You can also reach out to me, since I work as a luxury travel advisor and can plan your entire trip! 🇺🇸Provincetown, Massachusetts One of my favorite places on Cape Cod, this town is packed with New England charm. Countless whale-watching tours depart from here, along with kayaking and other seaside adventures. You can also get a direct ferry from Boston if you would prefer not to drive, or are only spending the day here. 🇺🇸Sconset, Nantucket This magical, very, very small town of Sconset is an absolute must if you’re visiting this island. The main square of Sconset has a market store, one or two shops, and one of the best sandwich places you’ll find anywhere in New England, @claudettes.sandwiches . Sconset Beach is a short walk from town and has stunning views of all the charming houses along the ocean. If you want to explore this fairytale location, you can enjoy drinks at the Chanticleer, walk along the Cliff Walk, or visit Sankaty Lighthouse. 🇺🇸Chatham, Massachusetts One of my other favorite New England coastal towns is Chatham. This town comes alive in July and August with the most stunning blooms of color from hydrangeas. Hydrangeas are popular on Cape Cod, and there’s even an annual festival to celebrate them. The @chathambarsinn is one of the best places to stay on Cape Cod. They have a private beach and multiple restaurants if you just want to visit for dinner or a drink. It is one of the most beautiful places in Cape Cod. 🇺🇸Newport, Rhode Island Known for its Gilded Age mansions and beautiful marina, this coastal town offers the popular Easton’s Beach. Here's why: 1) They're two different things, and this causes confusion. I've had clients go to stores and ask for help finding curvy-cut pants, only to be rudely told "You're not plus size". You can be a curvy size 2, or a non-curvy size 22. One has nothing to do with the other. 2) What's wrong with being plus size? When we have to use cutesy words to describe something, what we're really saying is that the thing isn't ok after all--which is kind of the opposite of inclusive and body-positive, which is where this whole "curvy" nonsense started. It makes no sense. "Curvy" simply means your waist is significantly smaller than your hips/rear, causing fit issues like the dreaded "gap in the back", as well as pockets that poke out, and "whiskers" across the hips. That's all. Curvy has nothing to do with your size. As part of my podcast episodes on using AI to improve your style, I asked 3 of the biggest AI models to create a 20-piece Capsule Wardrobe for an Apple-shaped woman. That's all the direction I gave. Here's what they came up with, along with my thoughts: Option 1- The layout looks nice, but there are some dated items, and some styles I wouldn't put an Apple in (like empire blouses, or tunics with leggings). Option 2- From a functionality perspective, this one is a little rough. 20 pieces would be tough to do for one season, but when those 20 pieces include shorts AND leather jackets, it's going to be difficult to make enough outfits for anything. Same issues here--a little less dated, but plenty of pieces that Apples would struggle with. Option 3- I don't even know what to say. If you're a 2D cut-out, this might work, and the "taupe tunic" looks more like a baby onesie, but questionable graphics aside.... We've still got tunics, leggings, and empire waists--none of which I'd put an Apple in in 2026. It's fascinating to me that all 3 of them shared so many similarities, from the color palette and the trench coat, to the dated styling advice. What's up with that?
