And I still consider myself to have church trauma at the hands of religious people I have always loved Jesus, I have never denied him. However as I grew from a child into a teen I became rebellious. I didn’t want to live the way Jesus wanted me to, I wanted to live the way I wanted to. The church saw this change in me, they saw me slipping away and instead of lovingly offering my support and checking if I was okay in my walk with God I was ignored and shunned by them so I left Over the years my faith in Jesus became lukewarm to the point where if you had met me in my early 20s you wouldn’t have guessed I was a Christian. While I never denied Jesus, I was completely living for myself and not for him but even though it seemed as though I was actively running away from him, he never let me go In January 2025 God placed it on my heart to go to church again and I decided to listen. I found a local church and went. God took this little act of faith on my behalf and ran with it. I started going to church again, reading my bible, praying - Seeking him with all my heart again. I went from being lukewarm to on fire for God again He truly saved me from myself because living my life the way I wanted to made me spiral into an angry, depressed and anxious person and living the way he wants me to has made me softer, more at peace and less anxious as I completely trust in the plans he has for me If religious people is what’s stopping you from coming to Jesus please know I was in the same boat. I felt judged and condemned by them and Jesus, God in the form of a perfect man, was sentenced to death by them. People are not perfect, God is.
