He has cancer.. lymphoma that has secondarily terrorized his skin for the past 4-5 months. 💔 He is the best boy.. always on my heels, smart as a whip and so handsome. Just seven short months ago, we lost our other Aussie, Dexter (his half-brother), to cancer (different type) as well. Winston hasn’t been the same since he lost his lifelong companion.. it’s been heartbreaking to see. The only silver lining out of all this is I know they will be ecstatic to see each other in heaven.. Every single stop was more breathtaking than the last and the 3.5 hour drive was SO worth it. Day 4️⃣—Upper Antelope Canyon was hands down one of the most stunning places I’ve ever seen. The sunlight streaming through the slot canyon walls felt unreal and pictures truly cannot capture how beautiful it is in person. If you ever get the chance to go, put it on your bucket list immediately. We made a quick stop at Glen Canyon Dam and the views were gorgeous, then headed to the famous cave behind the random Shell gas station in Page which somehow was also unbelievably beautiful. Arizona really knows how to show off. Horseshoe Bend completely took my breath away. It’s hard to wrap your mind around how all of these natural wonders were formed. God’s creation is just incredible. We ended with dinner at Javalina Cantina and I highly recommend the skirt steak. Day 5️⃣—Aslower paced day with donuts and cold brew from Sedonuts (highly recommend), followed by the peaceful beauty of Oak Creek Canyon. This water girl needed some greenery and fresh water after all the desert landscapes. We ended the trip aboard the Verde Canyon Railroad and it was the perfect finale. We upgraded to the private caboose and it was 100% worth it. Watching the stars under Arizona’s dark sky while rolling through the canyon was pure magic. Such a special trip with Mark and some of our best friends. Already dreaming about the next adventure. Between the red rocks, breathtaking views, and great food, every stop felt like a postcard come to life. And apparently I couldn’t fit it all into one carousel. 😂 Day 1️⃣ We flew into Phoenix and made the gorgeous drive into Sedona with a mandatory stop at In-N-Out for my very first experience. (Yes, I know we finally have them in TN now. 🤪) Our first official stop was the Chapel of the Holy Cross and it is an absolute must see. The architecture, the views, the peacefulness… truly stunning. For dinner, we ate at Mesa Grill overlooking the Sedona airport runway, and I’m still thinking about their tableside guac. Coming from someone who normally doesn’t even love guacamole, that says everything. 😂 We ended the night watching sunset at Airport Mesa Overlook and WOW. The way the red rocks glow at golden hour is unreal. Day 2️⃣ We headed to the Grand Canyon South Rim and took the Hermit Road shuttle so we could hop on and off at different overlooks. Every single stop somehow looked more beautiful than the last. Pictures truly cannot capture how massive and breathtaking it is in person. Dinner that night was at Shorebird and I cannot stop thinking about the Catalina Roll. Easily one of the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had. Day 3️⃣ We tackled Devil’s Bridge Trail and let me just say… this non-hiker survived. 😂 The hike itself was worth every step, but those final scrambles definitely tested me a little. Apparently I do have a slight fear of heights after all. 🤪 But standing on that bridge with those views was such an incredible experience and I’m so thankful we did it. Lunch at The Hudson was perfection with amazing views, and we wrapped up the day with dinner at Hideaway House which also had incredible scenery and such a fun atmosphere.
